Use case
Digital identity
Recover identity credentials and cryptographic identity keys.
The challenge
What breaks today.
Decentralised and wallet-based identity schemes bind a person's credentials to key material. When that key material is lost, re-issuance is slow, costly and often requires re-establishing identity from scratch.
How Anastasis applies
- Identity key material is placed under a recovery policy alongside the credentials that depend on it.
- Authentication for recovery can reuse the assurance mechanisms an issuer already trusts.
- Re-issuance becomes an exception path rather than the default remedy for a lost device.
What to think about
- Recovery authentication should be at least as strong as the original issuance process.
- Data-protection review is advisable wherever authentication involves personal data.
