- Seed material or signing keys are protected under a recovery policy defined by the holder or the platform.
- Recovery can be made to require several independent providers acting together, so no operator can move unilaterally.
- Policies can encode organisational controls such as multiple approvers or a waiting period.
What to think about
- Recovery policy design should be aligned with existing key-management and governance procedures.
- Operational drills matter: a recovery path that is never exercised is not a recovery path.
