Anastasis

Company

An open protocol, and a company that stands behind it.

Anastasis exists in two parts, and we keep the distinction explicit: the free-software project anyone can use and audit, and the company that supports serious deployments of it.

Open source

GNU Anastasis

The protocol specification and the reference implementation, published as Free Software within the GNU Project. Anyone can read it, run it, operate a provider, or fork it.

  • Documented recovery protocol
  • Reference provider and client implementations
  • Public source repository and release history

Commercial

Anastasis SARL

The Luxembourg company that develops the technology, supports integrations and deployments, and takes part in research collaborations. This is who an enterprise contracts with.

  • Integration and deployment support
  • Technical evaluation and pilot programmes
  • Research collaboration and protocol development

Mission

Recovery should not require surrender.

Cryptography has given people real control over their money, their data and their identity. The recovery problem is what keeps pushing that control back to intermediaries — because the honest answer to "what if I lose my key?" has usually been "give a copy to someone you trust".

We think that answer is avoidable. Anastasis exists to make recovery an engineering property of the system rather than a custody relationship.

Background

Research roots, European context.

Anastasis grew out of academic work on privacy-preserving payment and recovery systems, and continues in collaboration with research institutions and publicly supported programmes.

  • Academic collaboration

The protocol design originates in university research on privacy-preserving systems, and continues to be developed with academic partners.

  • European research support

Development has been supported through European research and innovation programmes focused on privacy and digital infrastructure.

  • Recognition

The work has been recognised in the free-software and privacy-technology community, alongside the wider GNU Taler ecosystem.

Specific programme names, partners and awards can be listed here once you confirm the exact references you want published.

Talk to the people building it.

Enterprise evaluations, research collaborations and pilot deployments all start with the same conversation.
